Sculptures — Jacopo Dotti

Jacopo Dotti's sculptural practice stems from his training at the Modigliani Art School in Padua alongside the contemporary sculptor Antonio Ievolella, and develops along two intertwined lines: the public monument as a device of memory and personal research on form as a tool for cultural investigation.

A work that privileges the relationship between work, place, and community—the sculpture is not an isolated object but a sign that dialogues with the space that hosts it.

Research topics

The monument as a civil act

In Jacopo Dotti's work, the monument is not a formal tribute, but an act of reconstructing collective memory. Each project begins with in-depth historical research—on the celebrated figure, the architectural context, the local community—to create a work that restores a sense of belonging to the site. Sculpture thus becomes a civic, not merely aesthetic, device.

The relationship with public space

Sculpture engages with architecture, urban planning, and the daily lives of those who pass through the space in which the work exists. There is no distinction between sculpture and the built environment: the work changes the place as much as it is changed by its presence. This approach developed alongside Ievolella and consolidated through architectural training at the IUAV in Venice.

Tradition and formal experimentation

Jacopo Dotti's sculptural style moves between Venetian tradition—the classical legacy of Palladio, Scamozzi, and Ievolella himself—and contemporary research into materials, surfaces, and forms. His work engages with history without ever imitating it.

Works and Projects

Monument to Vincenzo Scamozzi — Grisignano di Zocco (Vicenza), 2014
Jacopo Dotti's first public commission: the monument commemorating the quadricentennial of the death of architect Vincenzo Scamozzi, heir to Andrea Palladio, in collaboration with the Municipality of Grisignano di Zocco. The project is accompanied by the publication of a book on the design phases and restoration of the Villa Ferramosca complex in Barbano. A work that combines historical research, design, and sculptural creation.

Voltabarozzo Fountain-Sculpture (Padua)
Design and construction of the Voltabarozzo fountain-sculpture in collaboration with Antonio Ievolella, during his years at the Modigliani Art School. This public work marks Jacopo Dotti's entry into contemporary sculpture alongside one of the most important Italian sculptors of his generation.

Personal research and studio works
In parallel with his public commissions, Jacopo Dotti develops a personal exploration of sculptural form, which engages with his multidisciplinary artistic practice, sound installations, and graphic art. Works created at Revolux Studios explore the relationship between sculpture, sound art, and installation space.
